FOCCISA’s Economic Justice Network (EJN) brought partners from National Christian Councils across Southern Africa together for practical podcasting and storytelling training at Fray College of Communication. The training focused on giving church networks the confidence and practical skills to tell their own stories, communicate their work more effectively, and strengthen their public voice.
Across the sessions, participants explored the full podcasting process: identifying a strong story, developing a concept, choosing a format, preparing guests, recording, interviewing, editing, and publishing. The emphasis was practical, collaborative and immediately useful for the communications work of EJN partners.
The training also created space for participants from different countries and councils to exchange experiences and consider how podcasting can support advocacy on economic justice, climate justice, natural resource governance and other issues affecting communities across the region.
Facilitated by Fray College of Communication, the programme combined storytelling principles with hands-on communication practice. Participants worked through formats ranging from solo storytelling and conversational shows to interviews with experts and advocates.
EJN continues to invest in strengthening the capacity of National Christian Councils to communicate with clarity, reach wider audiences and ensure that the experiences and concerns of communities across Southern Africa are heard.
