Our Team

Dr Lebohang Matela is a gender and human rights advocate from Lesotho with extensive experience in health, gender justice, peacebuilding, and regional development. She is the Executive Director of the FOCCISA Health and Gender Justice Network and also serves as the Acting Executive Director of FOCCISA.

She has held the position of Executive Director since 2017, leading initiatives that advance gender equality, human rights, and social transformation across Southern Africa.

Dr Matela holds a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), obtained in 2020. Her academic and professional work is grounded in a commitment to addressing structural inequalities while strengthening inclusive and community-driven responses to social challenges.

She is a visionary leader who envisions FOCCISA not only as a regional platform for gender and health advocacy, but as an instrument of peace, stability, and flourishing communities. Under her leadership, FOCCISA is broadening its programmes to engage more intentionally with conflict dynamics and political realities affecting communities.

Pontsho Kesenogile Segwai holds a Psychology Honours degree from Rhodes University, a Diploma in Theology from the Nazarene Theological College, and a Graduate Programme Certificate in International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene from the University of Nevada, Reno.

She has served within the humanitarian sector for over two decades, including as Gender and Development Coordinator and Child Protection and Advocacy Manager for World Vision South Africa. Most of her professional life has been focused on addressing gender equality from a faith perspective.

She is the Board Chairperson of We Will Speak Out South Africa (WWSOSA), an interfaith coalition committed to ending gender-based violence, and serves as Secretariat for the Faith Action Collective and Side by Side — a global movement of people of faith working toward gender justice worldwide.

Hlengiwe Mbatha serves as Finance and Office Administrator at FOCCISA Health and Gender Justice Network, supporting the organisation's financial management and administrative operations.

Originally from Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, she holds a Bachelor of Accounting Sciences in Financial Accounting and a Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Auditing.

She is passionate about finance, governance, gender justice, and social justice, and is committed to supporting initiatives that promote justice, ethical leadership, and positive social change.

Dave Wilson is an experienced financial professional with a strong background in accounting, taxation, and business financial management. He graduated with a BCompt in Accounting Science and completed his articles at David Strachan Taylor, now part of PKF.

Following his articles, Dave served two years at SARS, gaining valuable insight into taxation, compliance, and financial regulation. He then established and successfully ran his own accounting practice for over 40 years.

He brings decades of practical experience in financial management, accounting systems, compliance, and strategic financial oversight. He is known for his reliability, professionalism, and commitment to helping organisations maintain strong financial foundations.

Rev. Can. Dr. Moses Matonya serves as the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT). He previously served as Principal of Msalato Theological College, Dean of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in the Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika, and Principal of Kondoa Bible School.

He holds a BA in Theology from Trinity College, Bristol (UK), an MA in Contemporary Mission Studies from All Nations Christian College, Hertfordshire (UK), and a PhD in Theology from Liverpool Hope University (UK).

He and his wife, Ruth, have five children.
